About this privacy notice
Updated 16 October 2026. This notice explains how Brainaris handles information when you visit the website, contact the publication or choose optional analytics.
Brainaris is the publication responsible for this website. For privacy questions or a data request, email [email protected].
Operating and protecting the website
Serving and protecting pages can involve technical information such as an IP address, requested URL, browser information and timestamps in server or provider logs. This information supports delivery, troubleshooting and protection against misuse. Backups support recovery.
WordPress uses sign-in cookies for editors. Site searches are sent to the WordPress server to find articles. These functions are separate from optional readership analytics.
The WordPress website runs on Google Cloud in Warsaw, Poland, behind Cloudflare for DNS, delivery and security.
Correspondence and editorial information
Emailing the publication provides your address, message and any information you choose to include. This information is used to respond, assess a story or correction, handle a permission or privacy request, and maintain the relevant correspondence. Mail to the contact address is routed through Cloudflare Email Routing to the designated Gmail inbox.
Sending a message is voluntary. Without enough information to understand or identify the matter, Brainaris may be unable to answer it. Avoid sending unnecessary sensitive information.
Where coverage includes professional information about an identified person, that information may come from public documents, company websites or material supplied for reporting. The article identifies or links the relevant sources.
Email subscriptions are currently unavailable. Brainaris does not collect newsletter sign-ups.
Optional readership analytics
After you accept optional analytics, Google Tag Manager loads Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity. The container and measurement scripts are blocked until a valid analytics opt-in is saved in your browser. Refusing optional analytics does not prevent you from reading the journal. Advertising consent remains denied.
Google Analytics helps assess page readership and interactions using information such as page URLs, browser and device details, and approximate location. Requests to Google can include your IP address for processing by its service. See how Google uses information from partner sites and Google’s Privacy Policy.
Microsoft Clarity provides heatmaps and session recordings, including clicks, scrolling and navigation, to help assess page usability. Clarity is configured for Strict masking so that page text is masked in recordings. Masking does not remove all technical information, such as page URLs or device details. See Clarity’s masking documentation and Microsoft’s Privacy Statement.
This integration excludes signed-in visitors, administration, previews, site search, error pages, feeds and URLs with unapproved query parameters. Public campaign links containing only validated UTM labels can be measured after analytics consent. Google Analytics receives a page URL without its query or fragment, together with the approved campaign labels; Clarity can record the approved campaign URL. Campaign labels must not contain names, email addresses or other personal information.
Purposes and legal bases
Consent is the basis for this integration’s optional analytics. It can be refused or withdrawn through Cookie settings.
Where applicable data protection law uses the legitimate-interests basis, Brainaris relies on its interests in delivering a functioning journal, protecting the website, responding to requests and maintaining relevant editorial or permissions records. These purposes are assessed against the rights and interests of the people concerned.
Information may also be processed where necessary to meet an applicable legal obligation, including handling a valid data request.
Service providers and international processing
The services described in this notice receive information relevant to their functions: Google Cloud for hosting, Cloudflare for delivery, security and email routing, Gmail for correspondence, and Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity for optional measurement.
These providers operate internationally. Hosting the website in Poland does not mean that every provider processes information only in Poland or in your country. Their privacy notices and service terms explain their processing locations and responsibilities.
Google and Microsoft describe the transfer safeguards and legal frameworks they use where applicable, including adequacy frameworks and standard contractual clauses. See Google’s data-transfer frameworks and the international-processing section of Microsoft’s Privacy Statement. For information about safeguards relevant to a Brainaris processing activity, contact the privacy address above.
How long information is retained
Correspondence and related records are retained according to the matter involved. The criteria include whether a request remains open, whether information is needed for follow-up or to document a correction or permission, and whether a dispute or applicable legal obligation requires retention.
Web-server access and error logs are rotated daily, with 14 rotated files retained. Other diagnostic and system logs use longer weekly or monthly rotation schedules and size limits. These settings do not promise that every item of information is deleted exactly 14 days after collection. Provider security logs may follow the provider’s own retention arrangements.
The routine backup configuration retains the three most recent complete database-and-file backup sets. Scheduled daily infrastructure snapshots have a 14-day retention period. Manual recovery copies are outside these automatic cycles and may be kept separately for recovery or investigation needs. Backup copies may preserve information after it has been removed from the active website.
The GA4 property is configured for two months of user-level and event-level data retention, with resetting on new user activity turned off. This setting does not govern standard aggregated reports or mean that all Google data disappears after two months. See Google’s data-retention explanation.
Browser storage has separate lifetimes, described in Cookies & storage. Cookie lifetime and a provider’s retention of collected information are different settings.
Your analytics choice and withdrawal
Use Cookie settings to accept analytics, reject optional measurement or change your preference. A versioned choice is saved on this device under brainaris_consent. The site honors it for up to 180 days; this validity limit does not automatically delete the stored value. An expired, missing or invalid choice does not enable optional analytics. If browser storage cannot save your choice, optional analytics stays off.
Withdrawing analytics consent stops measurement by this integration, attempts to remove the known first-party Google Analytics and Clarity cookies accessible on this site, and reloads the page if tracking scripts were already loaded. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before withdrawal, erase reports already collected or remove cookies on another provider’s domain. Browser controls can also clear site storage.
Your rights and requests
Depending on the law applicable to your information and the processing involved, you may have rights to access it, correct inaccuracies, request deletion, restrict processing or receive certain information in a portable format.
Right to object: where applicable law provides this right, you may object to processing based on legitimate interests, explaining the circumstances relevant to your request.
Send a request to the privacy email above with enough detail to identify the information or interaction concerned. Further information may be needed to verify identity and protect another person’s information. Rights can be subject to legal conditions and exceptions; a response will explain the action taken or the reason a request cannot be fulfilled.
You may also complain to the data protection authority competent under applicable law. Where the relevant law provides for it, this may be the authority where you live or work, or where the alleged infringement occurred. Contacting Brainaris first does not remove an applicable right to complain.
Reader preferences, external links and updates
Choosing Like stores a local preference for that article on this device; it is not a public like total. Undo the like or clear site storage to remove it.
Author and social links take you to external services with their own privacy practices.
This notice may be updated to reflect changes in the website or its processing practices. The date above identifies the latest revision.
